She specializes in working with writers, intellectual thinkers, and queer folks and enjoys focusing on:

  • Improving relationships

  • Navigating family conflict

  • Addressing addiction

  • Managing grief & loss

  • Processing childhood and religious trauma

  • Exploring queer identities

Psychotherapy Services

Kathryn offers psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy in combination with Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), somatic processing, and harm reduction methods. She has a direct yet humor-based approach with clients. She practices from a place of curiosity and enjoys exploring the effects of power imbalances and keeping a social justice mindset, even in individual work.

Together, you and Kathryn will work to create a schedule that suits you and the depth of work you’d like to do - ranging from multiple sessions per week, to once a week, to every other week. Treatment is typically not provided less than every other week except in special circumstances.

Kathryn is not currently in network with any insurance panels and fee scales below are approximate. You will be provided statements for potential out of network reimbursement, but it will be your responsibility to check with your insurance provider regarding coverage. If you do not receive out of network benefits or are uninsured, then you have the right to request a good faith estimate of expected charges prior to receiving services.

Please ask about sliding scale options if fee scales below are cost prohibitive for you.

Individual Therapy

Explore what’s keeping you stuck, whether it’s in your work or personal life. Together we look into patterns developed from important and influential relationships that keep showing up today. I frequently treat and explore addiction and addiction-like tendencies, as well as help process childhood trauma including (but definitely not limited to) substance use by caregivers, abandonment, and traumatic loss. I use psychodynamic, somatic, and harm reduction-based treatment modalities

Couple & Family Therapy

All participants must be 18 or older. Romantic relationships, friendships, coworkers, family relationships - this is where we get into issues between you and your loved ones, no matter if they’re long-standing patterns you would like to change or new issues just arising. I primarily use EFT and psychodynamic exploration and work frequently with poly or open couples and polycules in treatment. I also work with strained parent and adult child relationships, as well as complicated friendships and working relationships.

About Kathryn

Originally from the East Coast, Kathryn spent most of her childhood in central Illinois. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for her BA and MS in Economics before moving to Washington, DC for work. Kathryn was a research economist in international development for 10 years before coming to New York, where she earned her MSW from Columbia University.

Kathryn has a direct but humorous style in the therapy room, and while she has a psychodynamic lens, often uses somatic and emotion-based therapies to create the perfect blend of modalities for each client.

Kathryn currently lives in Manhattan with her wife and their dog, Nala. She spends much of her free time running (literally) around Manhattan, working out at her local crossfit gym, or listening to the latest Handsome podcast.
